I’ve been buying and selling on eBay full-time for several years now. Selling on eBay is a great way to earn some extra cash, or it can even provide a full-time income for you, all from the comfort of your own home. The best part is, it’s really easy!
However, there are some things new sellers should know before diving in and listing all of their good stuff on eBay. I made the mistake of listing several expensive items for sale as soon as I opened up my eBay account, and I didn’t have any feedback yet, so some of the items sold for far less than they would have if I had already accumulated a positive feedback rating.
Why is that? Because buyers on eBay look at a sellers feedback score before they bid, and many buyers will not bid on an item from a seller with 0 feedbacks because the buyer sees what they perceive as an inexperienced seller.
So what’s the best way to get around this problem? Easy, before you start your eBay selling, get your feet wet as a buyer for a few items. Look around eBay and purchase a few inexpensive items you would like to own, pay for them promptly, and within a few days you will most likely have a few positive feedbacks on your eBay account from the sellers you purchased the items from.
After you’ve built up 4 or 5 good feedbacks is the best time to start selling items on eBay and making $$ Cash $$ for yourself! In your eBay listings, always be completely honest. Don’t be afraid to explain in your item description that you are new to selling on eBay. If you don’t know much about a particular item you want to sell, then tell people you don’t know much about it, but provide a good photograph of the item so the potential customer can judge for themselves.
Of course, it’s not absolutely necessary to build up your feedback before you sell, it’s just a way to maximize the prices realized from selling your products early in your eBay career. Like I said, I didn’t have any feedback when I started selling, but I’ve done alright, and I’ve continued to sell on eBay for the past 5 years while maintaining 100% positive feedback after selling thousands of items.
The best way to learn (and get cash rolling in!) is to dive right in and start doing it.
